When It Comes To Dating Advice For Gamers, They Might Not Need Any: Do Gamers Really Have The Most Sex?
A lot of women hear the word “gamer” and picture:
A scrawny nerd who stays inside all day…
Maybe he still lives in his parents’ basement…
Or hell, maybe he’s still a virgin!
I’ll admit I used to believe this myself…until I found this study.
As it turns out, gamers have a lot more game (pun very much intended) than most people realize.
So today, I’m going to get to the bottom of it: Do gamers really get more action in the bedroom? And if so, why?
So…Is It For Real?
The short answer: Yes…and no.
Let’s begin by breaking the study down into its moving parts. The study surveyed 2,357 women, all of whom were asked to:
a) describe their partner, and…
b) report the number of times they had sex per week.
Here are the facts supporting the conclusion that “Yes, gamers really DO have the most sex!”:
- Of the 2,357 women in the survey, the women who described their partner as a “gamer” had sex an average of 6 times a week…
- While women who described their partner as a “hipster” only had sex 4 times a week…
- And women who described their partner as a “gym-goer” only got busy once a week!
- Plus: 59% of the women dating a “gamer” agreed that their partner (AKA the gamer) put her needs before his own…a very big bonus for most women.
This is pretty compelling. Gamers have sex 5 more times a week than gym-goers? Can it be?
Well, before you start the party, let’s back up a few steps. Here are a few more things to consider:
- The study was conducted by VoucherCodesPro, a website devoted to saving money. The intent of the study was to continue some ongoing research into stereotypes…not to determine who has the most sex.
- The women in the study were all UK-based, so the findings might not apply to other parts of the world…
- The survey relied on self-reported data, so it’s impossible to determine how truthful the women were being in their answers…
- The women were forced to choose a “stereotype” for their partner…
- The women had all been with their partner for over a year…
- There was no clear definition of “gamer” or any of the other stereotypes…
These are not insignificant issues…but it also doesn’t mean that this survey is total B.S.
So what does it mean? Why are gamers reportedly having more sex than anyone else?
Here are my 2 cents:
The #1 Reason Gamers Are Having The Most Sex
If you’re a gamer in a relationship, then you might have a pretty good idea why you get busy more often than so-called “gym-goers.”
These days, gaming is becoming less of a hobby and more of a serious career path. And for that reason, a lot of these “gamers” in the survey might work from home.
So what?
So…there are a LOT more opportunities to have sex if your girlfriend is just a few short steps away (quick nooner, anyone?).
On top of that, one recent study discovered that people who are exposed to sexual media and content often have more sexually charged dreams. So if you play games of a more sexual nature, then sex might be on your brain a lot more often…and so you could be more motivated to do the deed.
The truth is that most “gamers” aren’t nerds…or losers…or socially awkward….
They’re just normal guys who are apparently having a lot more sex than anyone ever realized.
What This Means For You
So if you’re not a gamer, should you quit your job, invest in an Xbox and get to it?
Not exactly. And it’s for the same reason you shouldn’t be concerned if you ARE a gamer and you’re not having sex 6 times a week.
This survey is not saying that “gamers” have the most sex because they’re gamers…and it’s not saying that all girls are wildly aroused by the idea of dating a gamer, either.
What’s most likely happening is that gamers lead a lifestyle that allows them to have sex more often than other men who are currently in relationships.
So if this kind of lifestyle isn’t realistic for you — the kind where you set your own hours, work from home, and are already in a relationship — it doesn’t mean you can’t have sex as often as you want.
Armed with the right knowledge, you can get sex whenever you want…and with almost any woman you want.
