New Research Exposes A Bizarre Connection Between Sleep And Testosterone…
Blurry vision. An achy head. Putting the spoon in the blender when you make your morning smoothie…
Dropping the eggs…
A sudden increase in your dislike of the human species…
If you’ve ever gotten a really bad night of sleep, all of these symptoms might sound all too familiar.
But what about your sex life?
When you sleep enough, the world looks rosy.
Birds follow you on your walk to work. Rainbows appear over the bus stop. Friendly strangers wave and offer you candy bars as you pass.
Well, not exactly. If all of this is happening to you, I want to know what brand of pillow you’re using.
But getting enough sleep does make a big difference in how much you enjoy your life.
And sleep can have a big impact on your sex life, too!
After all, 50 to 70 million Americans have sleep problems. Issues with sleep affect us regardless of our gender, how much money we make, or how old we are.
Meanwhile, 31 percent of American adult males experience some sort of sexual dysfunction.
According to a massive new study, improving your sleep can go a long way in improving your sex drive and performance.
How Does Sleep Increase (Or Decrease) Your T?
This study followed the sleep habits of about 4,000 men and women in their early sixties—an age when both sleep and sex problems tend to pop up.
Some of the people in the study experienced sleep apnea, a breathing problem that occurs during sleep which can effect your sexual health.
But even people without this problem saw a relationship between sleep quality and sex.
What did the study show?
Incredibly, researchers found that the amount of sleep you get is directly related to your testosterone levels.
How does this work?
Testosterone circulates during REM sleep.
As you first enter REM sleep, you may only experience it for ten minutes. But as the night wears on, your REM cycles get longer and longer.
By the end of a full night’s rest, you may experience REM cycles up to an hour in length.
That’s plenty of time for your testosterone levels to replenish.
But if you’re not sleeping enough, or if your sleep is frequently disrupted or low quality, you’re not going to experience those healing REM cycles.
As a result, your testosterone isn’t going to circulate and replenish as it should.
It Doesn't End There…
Low testosterone is one of the major causes of erectile dysfunction. In this massive study, the men who got less sleep had—you guessed it—less testosterone.
Therefore, they were more likely to have problems getting and maintaining an erection.
They were also more likely to have a low libido. In other words, they were less interested in sex.
Good grief! These poor guys.
As if going about all your daily chores while tired isn’t bad enough, now these dudes (and maybe you, too) have to worry about struggling with sexual function.
Unfortunately, some treatments for sleep disorders don’t allow the REM cycle to occur, so they might not help with testosterone problems.
It’s important to ask your doctor about this if you’re having issues both with sleep and with sexual performance.
Luckily, there’s lots you can do to improve your sleep—naturally!
How To Use This Information to Improve Your Bedroom Performance Naturally…
Exercise is a great starting strategy.
If you can tire yourself out physically, you’re more likely to collapse into bed and be ready to rest at the end of the day.
Of course, if you spend too many hours motionless behind a screen, your body will understandably be a little restless when it’s time to get some shut eye.
Avoiding caffeine late in the day is another helpful strategy. You can also try avoiding all screens for several hours before bed, or wearing blue-light filtering glasses, since the light from screens can trigger your brain to stay awake.
Eliminating stress is another great way to improve your sleep and your sexual performance.
Do this by spending time around people who make you relaxed and happy, avoiding overworking, and finding new hobbies that bring you joy.
You can also experiment with natural supplements and herbs that can promote healthy sleep and a healthy sex life.
